Hi there, I’m Jennifer.

A writer and blogger, I am forever caught at the intersection of learning to trust God and simple rhythms of life. I walk the path of life with you, reminding you with scripture and my own experiences that God is closer than you think. Life is full of struggles and tests of our faith, but I believe God did not intend for us to languish in the struggle. If you find yourself struggling to trust God in the wake of a tragedy, after a difficult season, or in the smallness of life, you are in the right place.

I started my blogging journey in 2018, unsure of where it would lead, if it would lead to anything at all. I’m still not sure exactly where this will take me, but I continue to write hoping my words bring inspiration and encouragement to whomever finds themselves here. Knowing God uses the diligent pursuit of His glorification, I continue to write, hoping, above all else, my words leave you feeling closer to the Lord.

My husband and I moved to Roanoke, Virginia in April 2019 where we enjoy the mountain air and the many opportunities to hike. Born and raised in the humidity and high temperatures of Memphis, Tennessee, Ryan and I both believed we would eventually live some place else, but weren’t sure when or where, until God led us here. In addition to blogging, I write as a freelancer and appear regularly on The Roanoker magazine’s blog and print magazine. We are a long way from family, but certain God placed us here among the mountains for such a time as this.

A writer by nature, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Mississippi State University in 2015 and my Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Memphis in 2018. As a student at MSU, I wrote for the student newspaper The Reflector, which taught me to chase after a story. Pursuing my master’s degree challenged me intellectually and spiritually and pushed me beyond my limits, but led me to a place where I learned to trust God.
